SPECIFIC LEARNING DISABILITIES INFORMATION
The University of Central Florida offers equal opportunity in admissions for students who have specific learning disabilities. Students with specific learning disabilities must meet the published admission requirements (contact UCF Undergraduate Admissions Office, telephone (407) 823-3000). Admissions test scores for the SAT or ACT taken under special testing conditions will be considered on the same basis as any other test score. If a student needs special admission consideration based on disability, the student should answer this question on the Application for Admission form and send the requested appropriate documentation to the Admissions Office. The University of Central Florida does not offer a specific learning disabilities program and does not provide specific learning disabilities teachers. No remedial courses or remedial work for students with specific learning disabilities is offered. Accommodations Provided Individualized academic accommodations are provided based on the documentation presented by the student. Some students with specific learning disabilities utilize tape recorded textbooks if available from Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D), telephone (800) 221-4792. Students may be eligible to apply for membership through Student Disability Services or directly to RFB&D (www.rfbd.org). Others use readers or adaptive technology to access textbooks. Many students receive testing accommodations for course examinations through the Student Disability Services office. Testing accommodations may include, but are not limited to, extended time limit, reader, and scribe. Students also may receive assistance with registration for courses. Campus Academic Resources The Student Academic Resource Center offers limited group tutoring in basic courses on a first come, first served basis for all UCF students. The University Writing Center and the Math Lab also offer limited tutoring for any UCF student.
