GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT STUDENT DISABILITY SERVICES

Student Disability Services provides information and individualized accommodations which are consistent with the student’s documented disability. Such accommodations may include, but are not limited to, assistance with classroom accommodations (including examination accommodations), assistance with course registration, and information and referral to campus and community services for students with disabilities.

To be eligible for disability-related accommodations, students must have a documented disability as defined by applicable federal and state laws. Accommodations are available to students whose disabilities include, but are not limited to, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, deaf and hard-of-hearing, physical disability and/or health-related impairment, psychological and/or psychiatric disability, specific learning disability (such as dyslexia), speech impairment, visual impairment, or other disabilities which require administrative or academic accommodations. Students seeking academic accommodations are required to provide recent documentation from an appropriate health care provider or professional (please see Student Disability Services DISABILITY DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS).

Students with disabilities must meet the published admission requirements (contact UCF Undergraduate Admissions Office, telephone (407) 823-3000). Admissions test scores for the SAT or ACT taken under special testing conditions will be considered on the same basis as any other test score. If a student needs special admission consideration based on disability, the student should indicate this on the Application for Admission form and send the requested appropriate documentation to the Admissions Office.

After admission to the university, students who have a disability that may require academic disability accommodations must contact Student Disability Services for an intake interview to be eligible to receive disability accommodations. The student will be required to provide disability documentation during the intake interview at Student Disability Services. All information is confidential and will be used only to assist the student.

A Text Telephone (TTY)/Telecommunication Device for the Deaf (TDD) is available for deaf/hard of hearing or speech-impaired persons with TTY/TDDs to contact Student Disability Services (TTY/TDD calls ONLY telephone (407) 823-2116). To telephone other University departments via TTY/TDD, please use the Florida Relay Service at TTY/TDD 711.
