EXAM PICKUP AND DELIVERY PROCEDURES
Student Disability Services (SDS) supports faculty by providing course examination accommodations for students with disabilities. Part of this service is the transportation of exams by SDS staff. In an effort to improve the security and efficiency of service, we offer several exam delivery options based on feedback received from college and information technology representatives:
SDS will pick up exams from only one designated office in each college. The exam must be at the designated office for pickup by 3:00 PM the day before the scheduled exam day. Each designated college office maintains a log that documents exam pickup and delivery activities. Only SDS USPS or A&P staff will be allowed to retrieve exams for delivery to SDS. The colleges have designated the following exam pick up and delivery locations: Exams will be picked-up from the designated offices only if SDS is notified that there is an exam that needs to be picked up. After the students finish the tests at SDS, SDS staff will deliver the tests to the corrosponding delivery locations shown below.
All College of Arts and Humanities Exams will be returned to the College of Arts Dean's office in CAH 190 to be sent to faculty mailboxes. All College of Science Exams will be returned to the College of Science Dean's office in COS 201 to be sent to faculty mailboxes.
A department may choose to deliver exams to SDS (Ferrell Commons [FC] Room 132) in person using department staff or faculty at least 24 hours before the scheduled exam time. Alternatively, faculty or staff may notify SDS 24 hours in advance as to the time the test will be delivered to SDS.
Another alternative for delivering exams to SDS is to e-mail the exam to sdstesting@mail.ucf.edu through a secure account such as GroupWise using Word or Adobe format. Exams delivered to SDS via e-mail will require delivery to SDS at least 24 hours before the scheduled exam time. Alternatively, faculty or staff may notify SDS 24 hours in advance as to the time the test will be delivered to SDS. If the exam is e-mailed through GroupWise, only designated SDS A&P or USPS staff will have access to the account. Faxing an exam is not recommended due to concerns about readability of print, especially for students who have print-related disabilities.
After exams are administered to students, SDS USPS or A&P staff will return the exams to the designated college office on the following business day. Faculty also may pick up exams from SDS. Faculty should inform SDS if they want their exams held for pickup at SDS or else the test will be returned to the designated location.
There are times when students
and faculty may believe that course examination accommodations should
be implemented in the classroom instead of at SDS. SDS does not support
such actions because the conditions under which examination accommodations
may be implemented in the classroom may not be equivalent to what is available
at SDS. Additionally, there may be other components of the accommodations
that cannot be replicated outside SDS. Faculty may be legally liable if
students do not receive appropriate accommodations. For additional information,
